What We File

Three filings. Done properly.

We do not try to be every vendor at once. These are the filings we work on every day.

IRS Form 2290 — Heavy Vehicle Use Tax

The annual federal tax on vehicles with a taxable gross weight of 55,000 lbs or more. Filed for the tax year running July 1 to June 30, with your stamped Schedule 1 returned as proof of payment for registration.

Full details
Weight categories A through V, calculated from your actual gross weight
Logging vehicles at the reduced rate, suspended vehicles reported correctly
Partial-year proration when a vehicle is first used after July
Stamped Schedule 1 delivered to your portal
VIN corrections and amendments handled

IRP — International Registration Plan

Apportioned plates let you run across jurisdiction lines on one registration, with fees split according to the miles you actually travel in each. We handle the schedules, the weight groups, and the annual renewal.

Full details
New account setup and jurisdiction selection
Distance schedules prepared from your mileage records
Weight group elections per jurisdiction
Cab cards, plate issuance, and supplements for added units
Annual renewal tracked so plates never lapse

IFTA — International Fuel Tax Agreement

One fuel tax licence covering every member jurisdiction, reconciled every quarter. We prepare the return from your fuel receipts and distance records, and keep the filing calendar so nothing is missed.

Full details
Licence application and annual decals
Quarterly returns prepared from fuel and distance records
Net tax or refund calculated per jurisdiction
Filing deadlines tracked for all four quarters
Records organised so an audit is straightforward
How It Works

Four steps, no paperwork run-around

Everything happens in your portal. You will always know exactly where a filing stands.

1

Send Your Details

Business name, EIN, and vehicle information. Fleets can upload a spreadsheet instead of typing every VIN.

2

We Review

A preparer checks weight categories, VIN formats, and first-used months before anything is submitted.

3

You Approve and Pay

You see the calculated tax and our fee up front, then approve. No filing goes out without your sign-off.

4

Documents Delivered

Your stamped Schedule 1, cab cards, or quarterly return land in your portal and stay there.

Why BKS

A preparer, not a checkout page

BKS ACCOUNTING SERVICES LLC is an accounting firm in Avenel, New Jersey that focuses on heavy vehicle tax and trucking compliance. Filings are prepared and reviewed by a person who understands what the numbers mean.

The cheap automated platforms will take whatever you type and send it. If a weight category is wrong or a vehicle should have been reported as suspended, you find out when the IRS does. We would rather catch it first.

Every return reviewed by a preparer before submission, not just validated by a form
Fleet uploads so twenty trucks take no longer than one
Documents kept in your portal, so next year's filing starts from this year's data
One firm for 2290, IRP, and IFTA, so the same people know your fleet
A real phone number, answered by the people doing the work
